Kurihomare must be Japanese for “knock out flavor”! The bright yellow flesh has sweet, ‘nutty’ flavor and melt-in-your mouth texture. Fruits are great just brushed with oil and baked, but also work well for Tempura and soups. The large (4.5-5.5 lb.) Kabocha type winter squash have a glossy green exterior and grow on a vigorous vine. Kurihomare’s strong plant habit allows for good fruit set, even in cold conditions. Kurihomare produces high yields in about 100 days from direct seed.
